Guilty Pleasures
A FINE ART PHOTO project FOR OMAKASE COLLECTIVE
My wife, Mackenzie and I created a series of fine art photographs together. The theme of the show was Home Sweet Home - We thought about what images belong in a home. Our goal was to create images that were familiar and nostalgic but also evoked curiosity and wonder. The method we used to achieve this was ABSTRACTION. Most photographs are too perfect, and are too strong of a tether to reality. If an item you bring into your home is too specific, it won't feel like YOUR object. By using abstraction we separated the photo from the moment it was taken and reduced it to symbols so the viewer could fill it with their own meaning and make the piece their own.
Along with the three photographs we also created accompanying social media content to involve our social media audience into the process of selecting the final photograph.
For the gallery event I hired an impersonator to go to the event as "Woody" and to play the role of the artist.
