Artists of the world, CREATE!
For those who choose it, a new dawn of expression and financial freedom awaits. The life of the artist has always been an arduous and unjust affair. Supply and demand forever out of balance favoring the decision makers and those with budgets. But now is not the time for despair.
There exists two distinct hemispheres of creativity. The STARVING ARTIST, desperate, grasping at pennies, unsure of their value & willing to bend and contort themselves for the faintest possibility of “making it”.
On the other side of the coin is the WELL FED ARTIST. The Well Fed Artist is a crafty operator that has been molded and influenced by the forces of capitalism to be as cunning a business entity as the clients, agencies, patrons, and collectors they work with - while still maintaining their artistic integrity . They are not only aware of their value, but they have an active role in determining it. The Well Fed Artist knows the power of the word ‘NO’ and how and when to wield it. They are a sorceress combining ART and CAPITALISM and CONFIDENCE to create the conditions in which their creativity can thrive, is well received and is useful to the world.
So what separates the Starving Artist from the Well Fed Artist? Is it belief in oneself, is it sheer effort, or is it the same thing that makes a creative project exceptional - an alchemy of effort, attempt, vulnerability and a bit of luck.
For every action there is a reaction, All creative acts are a trust fall with the universe, not knowing if you will end up flat on your back ridiculed by the masses or praised and revered for your genius. Maybe what differentiates the Well Fed Artist from the Starving Artist is simply that they’re willing to fall harder.
